Matoshri Indirabai Baburao Khandeparker High School (MIBK) were crowned the All-Goa state champions of the U-14 Boys President Cup after a hard-fought two-wicket victory over Progress High School Sanquelim at Porvorim on Thursday.
Chasing a modest target of 128, MIBK HS were made to work for every run, eventually reaching 129/8 in 34.2 overs. Tanay Parab top-scored for MIBK with a gritty 47, while Sarthak Gavde (21*) and Nilesh Gharti (13) provided the finishing touches. Despite some early setbacks, MIBK held their nerve to get over the line.
Earlier, Progress HS were bowled out for 127 in 38.1 overs after opting to bat. Ashutosh Shetty (26), Swayam Sawal (17), and Lakshadeep Gawas (17) were the key contributors with the bat. MIBK’s bowling attack was led by Vedang Gawade, who took 4/24, while Shaurya (2/24), Rudran Gaude (1/7), and Vansh Prarb (1/18) supported
well.
MIBK’s all-rounder Vedang Gawade was named the Player of the Match for his match-winning performance with the ball.
