Associacao Academica De Moira and Candolim Sports Club played out a hard-fought 1-1 draw in a GFA First Division League Group A clash at Duler Stadium, Mapusa on Monday.
After a cagey first half, it was AA De Moira who struck first just a minute into the second period. Michael Dias latched onto a loose ball inside the box and rifled home in the 46th minute to hand his side a crucial lead.
Candolim SC responded strongly and found their equaliser in the 67th minute through Domnic Soares, who made no mistake in converting a well-worked move to restore parity.
The game turned feisty in the closing stages, with both sides picking up multiple bookings. Candolim’s Pravin Rathod was shown a straight red card in stoppage time (90+2’) following a rash challenge, adding late drama to an otherwise balanced encounter. With the result, Candolim SC stay third in the standings with 12 points from six matches, while Moira remain eighth with four points.
