Joyson, Venito, Prestley, Velon score one each

Chinchinim: Navelim Sporting Club defeated Betalbatim Sporting Club 4-1 in the Anil Kamat Memorial Tournament at Chinchinim Church ground on Sunday.

Betalbatim struck early, with Dickson Rogtao putting them ahead in the 4th minute after pouncing on a defensive lapse.

Navelim slowly found their rhythm, with Venito Costa and Ronaldo Pereira both threatening Betalbatim’s goal. Pereira, in particular, had two powerful efforts denied by a sharp Betalbatim goalkeeper, who kept his side in front going into halftime.

But the second half belonged entirely to Navelim.

Joyson Coutinho ignited the comeback in the 37th minute with a precise 10-yard free-kick that left the keeper stranded. With Betalbatim on the back foot, Navelim pressed higher, and their persistence paid off. Venito Costa gave them the lead in the 42nd minute, calmly slotting past the advancing keeper.

Prestley Gomes extended the advantage a minute later while Velon Rebello sealed the rout in the final minute of regulation with a powerful strike.
