Navelim: Tamil Nadu’s Nomaan Pappu and Andhra Pradesh’s top seed Asha Sree Dandu emerged as singles champions on the final day of the Yonex-Sunrise All India Sub Junior (U-13) Ranking Badminton Tournament 2025, hosted at the Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium, Navelim.

Nomaan capped off a stellar week with a commanding 21-16, 21-19 win over Haryana’s Shlok Chowdhury Roy in the Boys Singles final, showcasing sharp court coverage and precision under pressure. Shlok himself had a strong win, with commanding wins throughout his preceeding matches.

Asha Sree, meanwhile, was made to sweat in a three-game battle by Maharashtra’s Kyra Raina, eventually prevailing 21-17, 16-21, 21-19 to lift the Girls Singles crown in a contest that had the crowd on edge.

In Boys Doubles, Shivesh Gupta (Uttar Pradesh) and Jashwanth Mahamkali (Andhra Pradesh) delivered a clinical 21-17, 21-17 victory over the spirited pair of Pratham Vishal Raut (Maharashtra) and Vivaan Shah (Gujarat), as Jashwanth redeemed himself after his earlier singles semifinal exit.

Srivaibhavi Anumula and Anya Proddatur (Telangana) sealed the Girls Doubles title with a composed 21-17, 21-17 win over Tamil Nadu’s Nithiksha Jeganathan and Aaditri Kannan.

The  concluding ceremony featured a number of dignitaries, including Goa Badminton Association president Manoj Patil.

“The opportunity to host prestigious national tournaments like this reflects our commitment to nurturing grassroots talent,” he said, speaking at the conclusion of the event.
