Panaji

The Goa government has made Permanent Account Number (PAN) card, issued by the income tax department, mandatory for all applications related to the issuance or renewal of registrations, licences, permissions, etc, under all Acts and rules implemented by various departments of the government, public sector undertakings, local bodies and autonomous bodies.

The finance department of the state government has issued a circular in this regard on April 11.

In cases where no renewal is required for any registration, licence, permission already issued, the PAN details will be captured within three months from the date of issue of the circular, it states.

The government has directed all the departments concerned to ensure that the requirement of PAN card is incorporated into all the prescribed application forms/formats/checklists within a period of six months from the date of the circular. The circular further states that necessary amendments to the relevant Acts, rules and regulations are carried out to legally enforce the requirement.

 wherever applicable.

The circular also states that system-based mechanisms have been developed to enable seamless cross-verification of data using PAN card across all the government entities.
