Bicholim: The first phase of the proposed Bicholim Government Office Complex is expected to be completed within two years, said Bicholim MLA Chandrakant Shetye.
Shetye said that the complex, which aims to bring all government offices under one roof, will be constructed on the site of the old police station, where demolition work is nearing completion. The building will consist of a ground-plus-three-floor structure.
“The existing Mamlatdar office building will be retained as it is,” Shetye said, adding that the second phase of the project will include a Kala Bhavan with a seating capacity of 600, a full sound system, a library, and other necessary facilities. The complex will also have ample parking space.
The first phase of the project is estimated to cost Rs 80 crore.
“Once completed, the new complex will greatly benefit residents of Bicholim and nearby areas by offering easier access to various government departments under one roof,” he said.
The foundation stone for the complex will be laid by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday, said Bicholim MLA Chandrakant Shetye.
