Residents of Maddel and Mungul in Fatorda have been facing a severe water shortage for the past two days after an underground pipeline burst. Despite ongoing efforts by the Public Works Department (PWD), the leak remains undiscovered, delaying repairs and adding to residents’ difficulties.
PWD officials began excavation early Monday morning but, by late evening, had yet to locate the fault. The prolonged disruption has severely affected daily routines, prompting residents to demand urgent action.
“We urge the authorities to expedite the repair work and restore water supply as soon as possible. We are facing immense difficulties without water for two days,” said Milagres Fernandes, a resident of the affected area.
Fernandes said that the PWD workers had dug at three different locations without success. “This indicates a lack of proper planning and technical expertise. The contractor is carrying out the work without the presence of the concerned engineer,”
he alleged.
