Graphic designer Poonam Bind from Vasco is the only Indian nominee in the Poster Design category at Toronto’s Alternative Film Festival for her work on the environmental film ‘Act To Achieve’.

AltFF is an IMDb-qualifying quarterly festival, with the awards ceremony scheduled for December 31 at the House of Culture – Naturlandia, Toronto, Canada.

Bind, a 21-year-old graphic designer and a mass communication graduate of Don Bosco College, Panaji, is known for her work in graphic design and video editing. She has previously won the Digi-Tell Poster Competition organised by Abhivyatee Panaji in collaboration with the Goa State Biodiversity Board.

She has also directed the short film Online Dokha (2023), which addresses issues of cyber security and online fraud. Bind also acted in the film, portraying a character whose use of a fake identity leads to tragic consequences.

Directed by Mario Pimenta, ‘Act To Achieve’ has received multiple international selections, including the Frome International Climate Change Film Festival in the United Kingdom, the Egyptian American Film Festival in the United States, and La Bohème Cinema in Russia.
