Panaji : The representative of the contractor for the Porvorim flyover project informed the High Court of Bombay at Goa that the hot-mixing of the road stretches is well underway, with substantial progress made in compliance with the court’s previous orders. The representative assured the court that the remaining stretches would be hot-mixed expeditiously. The High Court has
tasked Abhijit Gosavi, who represents one of the intervenors, with informing the contractor of specific stretches causing inconvenience to traffic movement. The matter is scheduled for further consideration on January 16.
The petition filed in the case highlights severe traffic congestion, particularly between Guirim junction and Mall de Goa, exacerbated by diversions related to the elevated corridor construction on NH66. The petition also calls for directives to the state government to address multiple issues, including the establishment of trauma care centres, conducting an audit of road infrastructure, improving safety measures, and implementing modern traffic enforcement technologies such as speed cameras and automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) systems in high-risk areas. The court had previously directed the state government to ensure the hot-mixing of the road stretch from Mall de Goa to O’Coqueiro Junction, which is being used as a diversion route due to the flyover
construction.
