Prof. Sanjay Kumar elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry

Professor of Practice at BITS Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa Campus, has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), U.K., in recognition of his contributions to chemical and pharmaceutical sciences.

With over two decades of experience at the interface of academia and industry, Kumar has advanced translational research in drug discovery and development. He was part of the core team that discovered and developed Oxemia (desidustat), an innovative oral treatment for anemia, taking it from bench to market in India. He has also played a pivotal role in the discovery and early clinical development (Phase I and II) of three novel chemical entities (NCEs) targeting oncology, diabetes, and inflammatory disorders. His scientific contributions include over 40 research publications and 30 patents. At BITS Pilani, Kumar teaches, mentors young researchers, and fosters collaboration between academia and industry to accelerate innovation.
