After battling against each other and showcasing their intellectual skills, six out of the many participants qualified for the semi-final round of the ninth edition of The Navhind Times School Quiz 2025, an all-Goa competition which saw an overwhelming response from students of class 5 to 10.

At the valedictory function, winners were awarded their trophies and prizes by chief guest Yogiraj Kamat,  a businessman. Also present on the occasion was head of administration, Navhind Papers & Publications, Gopi Kalwar. In his address, Kamat congratulated the organisers, winning schools, and other participating schools. He encouraged students to keep participating in such events and keep learning to increase their knowledge. Goa 365 channel covered the event for which the quiz master was Rajiv D’Silva. The quiz was held in association with the Indian Oil Corporation and supported by Monginis and Times Collection.

Following are the top 6 teams:

Winners: Mushtifund High School- Samarth Dubhashi & Avaneesh S. Kenkare

1st Runner-Up: Ravindra Kelekar Dyanmandir- Shiv Nadkarni & Rishi Dessai

2nd Runner-Up: Vidya Vriddhi School- Saksham Nagarcenkar & Pratheeksh Shetty

4th place winners: G. S Amonkar Vidya Mandir- Atharv Naik & Aarav Halankar

5th Place winners: Bhatikar Model High School- Shriyaan Kamat & Shraunak Naik

6th Place winners: Dr. K. B. Hedgewar High School- Vedant Vishvesh Mandrekar & Anish Siddeshwar

FEEBACK:

Overall, it is a good opportunity for school students to test their knowledge. New topics were introduced, and I feel students can study more and prepare themselves better in history, current affairs, etc., for the next time they answer.”

Gautami Naik, Teacher

The competition was very good, one reason being Rajiv D’silva who was a good choice as quiz master. The preliminary round could have been better organised, with teams sitting apart from each other to avoid any discrepancies. Other than that, the organisation was done very well.”

Savio Victoria, teacher

The competition was very well organised, very interesting and the questions were very well selected for all age groups; balancing the levels of difficulty with clues, so that students feel motivated to answer.”

Shital Gaitonde, teacher

The organisation was good but there could have been categories as it doesn’t seem very fair to compare students between class 5 and 10. It could have been separated out to class 5-7 and class 8-10 at least. Another suggestion would be to have the preliminary round as MCQs.”

Ashok Velip, parent

It was a well organised event. Though the difference in ages of the participants made some questions seem difficult for the smaller kids, I congratulate The Navhind Times for having such competitions that foster talent in young minds.”

Devidas Amonkar, parent

The quiz was very good but I wish we got some topics for the quiz told to us before-hand. I think that this quiz should be held again next year and I hope the organisers let us know relevant topics.”

Anish Nauso Shetye, student

The Navhind Times should hold this quiz more often and on more specified topics. Also it should take a semi-final as there were enough teams, and then hold a final round. Everything else was amazing.”

Pushti Niraj Bhatikar, student

The competition was very nice and educative. I learned many new things about Goa, India, and international countries.”

Anusha Kamat Tarkar, Student

It was very educational and informative, as well as enjoyable.”

Anuj Bhadvankar, Student

It was my great pleasure to attend this general quiz, which was both exciting and challenging. Even though I couldn’t make it to the on-stage rounds, I honestly learned a lot in this quiz. Thanks to The Navhind Times for organising this amazing quiz. I’m looking forward to the next time.”

Juvenna F. Cabral, student

The preliminary round was interesting as well as challenging and it also enhanced my knowledge. And it’s a pleasure to be able to participate in this quiz.”

Nirusksha, student

I really liked this event because I got to learn new things. Thanks to The Navhind Times who organised this event, I gained knowledge.”

Mehrin Makandar, Student

I really liked this quiz, because I gained knowledge from it.”

Noor Afsana Kustagi, Student

It was a pretty good quiz but I would suggest increasing the difficulty level. Another idea would be to either have semi-finals round or allow more than one team from a single school which would increase the fun and entertainment in this quiz.”

Yash Kamat, Student
