Garisson, Loyd, Oilex score one each in their 3-1 win
Raia: Raia Sporting registered a commanding 3-1 win over Candolim Sports Club in the 52nd Custodio Memorial Tournament at the Raia ground on Sunday. The hosts struck twice in quick succession in the first half, setting the tone for the match.
Garisson Fernandes opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a composed finish, and just three minutes later, Loyd Cardozo doubled the lead with a sharp effort to give Raia a comfortable 2-0 cushion at the break.
Candolim tried to claw their way back when Davin Pednekar pulled one back in the 56th minute, briefly raising hopes of a comeback. But those hopes were quickly dashed as Oilex Olivera restored Raia’s two-goal advantage just four minutes later with a confident strike, sealing the victory.
Raia controlled possession and tempo for large parts of the game, while Candolim struggled to match their intensity.
Garisson Fernandes, who played a key role and opened the scoring, was named Man of the Match. The award was presented by Fr Peter D’Souza
