Panaji: A petition filed before the High Court of Bombay at Goa by Moses Pinto has raised concerns over the lack of a proper drainage system at the Porvorim flyover construction site, urging urgent intervention by authorities and the project contractor.

The petitioner has stated that the existing drainage system has been filled with mud and damaged due to ongoing construction work. He warned that without proper drainage system before the monsoon, the situation could cause serious inconvenience to Porvorim residents and the commuters.

To prevent flooding, the petitioner proposed the creation of temporary drainage channels alongside compound walls and suggested that permanent drainage systems be designed to ensure rainwater from house compounds and PWD roads flows directly into the drains, avoiding utility chambers and electrical installations like transformers.

Pinto has urged the High Court to direct authorities to take immediate remedial measures and instruct the contractor to comply with safety regulations under independent monitoring.

He also submitted a detailed report documenting safety hazards, environmental degradation, and legal non-compliance at the NH-66 elevated corridor project site, supported by photographic evidence, calling for urgent corrective action to safeguard public safety and infrastructure integrity.
