Goa’s umbrella scheme to incentivise local industrial units — the Goa State Incentives to Encourage Investments Scheme 2017 — which is in the process of being restructured, will give special attention to women entrepreneurs, said Industry Secretary Suneel Anchipaka on Friday.
“The government, by speaking to various industry associations, is actively working towards removing the pitfalls witnessed in the existing scheme. The revised scheme will add to the financial incentives offered under various central schemes. It will be notified shortly,” said Anchipaka.
The industry secretary was speaking at the CII Goa Buyer-Seller Meet, organised together with the Directorate of Industries, Trade & Commerce (DITC). Anchipaka said that buyer-seller interactions between large and small industries are important for market linkages.
“Only a ready market will make new MSMEs come up in the state. The meet is a good platform for MSMEs to showcase their products to create according to market demand,” he said.
About 45 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the state participated in the buyer-seller meet, where Siemens Ltd, Goa, shared its equipment and component requirements for its forthcoming capacity expansion valued at Rs 330 crore.
Mahendra Wani, General Manager of Siemens Ltd, Goa, said the company has a major presence in the state with five factories in Verna Industrial Estate and is eager to make Goan companies part of its success story.
Wani said, “It is our wish to expand the local industrial ecosystem. The partnership with Siemens will be an opportunity for you to grow.”
He said that the company’s plants in Goa supply critical electrical goods globally. Besides the Rs 330 crore investment in capacity expansion, the company is also expanding its R&D centre in the state.
“The R&D division develops hard-core electronics design for Siemens globally,” said Wani.
Senior officials from the company’s Germany headquarters and government officials from DITC were also present at the event.
