Salcete office sees 3.9k residence cert applications from Margao

The mamlatdar’s office in Salcete received 3,971 applications for residence certificates from individuals in Margao constituency over the past
19 months.

From January 2024 to July 2025, the office also issued 436 divergence certificates. On average, 209 residence certificates are sought every month.

In reply to a Legislative Assembly Question (LAQ) by Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, Revenue Minister Atanasio Monserrate said nearly 350 applications remain pending due to lack of sufficient documentation. “The prescribed time frame for issuing a residence certificate is five working days,”
he said.

According to reports, the mamlatdar’s office issues on an average 60 residence certificates each
working day.
