The Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications (ITE&C), as part of the national Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan, campaign for tribal empowerment distributed 22 laptops to meritorious students from scheduled tribe (ST) and scheduled caste (SC) communities for the academic year 2023–24. Organised by the Directorate of Tribal Welfare, the camp in Sanguem, had several state departments delivering welfare schemes, health services, and digital support directly to tribal citizens.
The camp was inaugurated by Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Jual Oram, and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, in the presence of MP Rajya Sabha Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Minister for social welfare Subhash Phal Dessai, Speaker Goa Legislative Assembly Ramesh Tawadkar, and Savordem MLA Ganesh Gaonkar, among others.
The IT department showcased its digital initiatives during the event with officials sharing updates on the Har Ghar Fibre and BharatNet 3.0 projects.
As part of the function free health screenings, breast and TB check-ups, dental assessments, and PMJAY health card registrations were carried out among visitors.
