Sankhali on track to become model city, says Sawant

The development of Sankhali today is the result of everyone’s contribution, and with continued cooperation from the public, it can definitely become one of the top cities in the country, said Chief Minister
Pramod Sawant.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the Shimgotsav in Sankhali on Saturday.

He said that Sankhali now offers a wide range of educational, cultural, sports, health and
spiritual facilities.

Education from KG to post-graduation is available in the city, with three higher degree colleges, he said

highlighting the beautification of temples and tourism-related development Sankhali could also be known for its temples
in the future.

The Shimgotsav procession, organised by the Sankhali Shimgotsav Committee and the Goa State Tourism Department, was formally inaugurated by the Chief Minister by
beating a dhol.

Also present on the occasion were chairperson Siddhi Prabhu, deputy chairperson Anand Kanekar, councillors and working president of the Shimgotsav Committee Dayanand Boryekar, Padmini Foundation’s president Sulakshana Sawant, Instagram personality Rudra Ghodge, and sarpanchas of various panchayats.

Speaking further, the Chief Minister emphasised the importance of public participation in keeping the city clean and beautiful.

He said the government is currently working to widen the roads in the city, and if people cooperate immediately, all roads will be widened and beautified before the onset of the
next monsoon.

He said the government is committed to providing all necessary facilities to improve the quality of life in Sankhali and that public support is crucial in
this effort.

Only then, he said, can Sankhali become not just the top town in Goa, but also in the country.

Sulakshana Sawant said that various facets of Goan culture are showcased during Shimgotsav.
