The Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Khandola, along with the Goa State Research Foundation, recently organised a summer

school in Chemistry called ‘In Our Element: A Peek into the World of Chemistry’. The workshop was held for higher secondary students from across Goa.

Professor Mahesh Majik was the chief guest at the opening ceremony. The workshop was planned by chemistry teachers Richa S. Sardessai and Sarvesh Harmalkar. It was created to give students a chance to do practical work, which is often missing in their regular school schedule. The goal was to show how chemistry is used in real life.

Students took part in fun and educational experiments on topics like natural product extraction, natural indicators, water testing, food pH levels, electrical conductance, ore analysis, and green chemistry. These activities helped students understand how chemistry plays an important role in our daily lives.

The sessions were held by college faculty—Rajshri Mordekar, Apurva Narvekar, Satu Gawas, Pooja Bhargao, and Aishwarya Nazare.
