NT Reporter | Mapusa

Sesa FA defeated Calangute Association 2–1 in the Goa Professional League at Mapusa. Goals from Venito Costa and Cain Fernandes sealed Sesa the win while Calangute pulled one back through Jovito Fernandes.

Sesa drew first blood in the 19th minute when captain Aman Rajbhar delivered a precise corner that found Venito Costa, who rose above his marker to head home from close range. Calangute responded almost immediately, forcing Mahadev Gawade into a sharp save in the 22nd minute before eventually equalising in the 38th. A defensive lapse saw Gawade misjudge a long ball, allowing Jovito Fernandes to slot into an empty net.

Tempers flared before the break as Russell went into the referee’s book for a late tackle on Sheldon Pereira, with the sides level at 1–1 at halftime. Sesa sealed the win in the second half when a loose ball in the box fell to Cain Fernandes, who made no mistake from close range to secure three points for his side.
