They beat Dempo SC 4-2 in penalty shootout

Guirim: Sesa FA clinched the Goa Regional Round title of the Dream Sports Championship 2025 after a penalty shootout victory over Dempo SC at Guirim on Friday.

The U-17 clash ended 2-2 in regulation time before Sesa triumphed 4-2 in the shootout, with goalkeeper Sakib Lamture emerging as the hero.

Sesa took control early, with Aniket Terane breaking the deadlock in the 14th minute. Pramod Gawas doubled their lead in the 63rd, seemingly putting the contest beyond reach. However, Dempo mounted a late comeback—Jonathan Silva pulled one back in the 73rd before Jodric Abranches struck a dramatic equalizer in stoppage time, forcing penalties.

Despite the setback, Dempo SC still secured a spot in the national finals as the best losing regional finalist. They will join SESA FA (Goa), Punjab FC (Delhi), Chennaiyin FC (Bengaluru), Reliance Foundation Young Champs (Mumbai), Mohun Bagan Super Giant (Kolkata), and Football 4 Change (Guwahati) in the final showdown set for April 2025 in Goa.
