Tyson, Ashnoy score one each in their 2-0 win

Vagator: Sao Jose de Areal sealed a 2-0 victory over Saligao United on Thursday to book their place in the semifinals of the 24th Vagator Soccer, at the Vagator ground.

The match began at a lively pace. In the 9th minute, Tyson Carvalho capitalized on a loose ball inside the box to fire home from close range and put Areal ahead. He nearly added a second moments later with a free-kick that crashed against the crossbar.

Areal continued to threaten as Senisho Oliveira’s low cross was narrowly missed by the striker in the 13th minute. Saligao responded through Bersal Vegas, whose delivery was headed straight at the keeper by Leo Gonsalves. Kenrick Menezes also came close for Saligao but was denied by a superb save from Areal goalkeeper Dezi Oliveira.

In the 35th minute, Ashnoy Gomes doubled Areal’s lead with a curling shot from outside the box, leaving the goalkeeper rooted. The goal proved crucial in cementing Areal’s control over the match.

Tensions rose in the second half, with a heated exchange between players in the 52nd minute. Despite Saligao’s efforts, including a strong header from Abusalia Havaldar in the 60th minute, Dezi Oliveira stood firm in goal with another excellent save.

Ashnoy Gomes was named Man of the Match for his all-round display and crucial goal that sealed the win for Areal.
