They get the better of Sao Jose de Areal 9-8 via tie-breaker

Benaulim: ABC Sports Club Arambol clinched the 46th Cana Benaulim Soccer Cup after 8-7 win via tie-breaker over Sao Jose de Areal Championship at St John the Baptist ground, Dando, Benaulim on Sunday.

Both sides started cautiously, balancing attacking intent with disciplined defending in a goalless first half. The breakthrough arrived in the 33rd minute when Alvito Moura fired Areal into the lead, sparking celebrations among their travelling supporters.

But Arambol responded with resilience, pushing forward relentlessly. Areal’s goalkeeper Aggie Antao—who would later be named Best Goalkeeper of the Finals—pulled off key saves to keep them ahead. The pressure finally told in the 44th minute, when Pranesh unleashed a stunning long-range effort to make it 1-1 and force the tie into penalties.

The shootout proved as gripping as the match itself. Both teams converted confidently, but in the decisive moment, Arambol edged ahead to seal an 8-7 victory, lifting the prestigious trophy along with a `60,000 cash prize.

The final was graced by the presence of Aramando Colaco, Venzy Viegas, Caitano Fernandes, Anthony Pango and other dignitaries who presented trophies and individual awards.
