Babu, Hansine win Panaji Run

Babu Gaonkar and Hansine Benoit emerged overall champions in the men’s and women’s categories respectively as 1,800 participants took part in the second edition of the ‘Live Life in Colour’ Mathias Panaji Run at the SAG ground, Campal.

Competing in the 10K timed run (18 years and above), Gaonkar clinched the men’s title in an impressive 33 minutes and 07 seconds. Anurag Konkar finished second in 34:04, while Akash Agarwadekar secured third place with a timing of 34:45.

In the women’s section, Hansine Benoit topped the field, clocking 46:40. Dr Blanch Themudo claimed second place in 49:05, narrowly ahead of Vikita Desai, who completed the podium in 49:28.

The event, held amid the festive backdrop of Holi and Shigmo, featured a 10K timed run, a 5K walk/run and a special 1K category for NAB and PWD participants. Runners ranging from 13 years to over 70 years competed across various age groups in the 10K event.

North Goa Collector Ankit Yadav also participated in the 10K run. Special prizes were awarded in the 5K and PWD
categories, including honours for the most enthusiastic male, female and child participant, as well as the oldest and youngest runners and the best performing group.
