Panaji: Betalbatim Sporting Club secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Goa Velha Sports Club to book their place in the quarterfinals of the 27th Holy Cross Inter-Village Tournament.
The first half saw Betalbatim squander a couple of golden one-on-one opportunities, with one placement shot rattling the crossbar. In the second half, Betalbatim continued to press forward, but the Goa Velha goalkeeper stood tall, pulling off a series of brilliant saves. However, his resistance was finally broken in the 57th minute when Gladson of Betalbatim scored from a corner. Despite late efforts from Goa Velha, Betalbatim held on to their narrow lead. The full-time score read 1-0 in favour of Betalbatim SC.
