Margao clinch a hard-fought 14-run win over Salgaocar
Sankhali: Dempo CC registered an innings-and-six-run win over Geno Sports Club, while Margao CC defeated Salgaocar CC by 14 runs on Day 3 of Round 4 of the Goa Premier Division League.
At Sankhali, After dismissing Geno for 121, Dempo built a strong 351, led by Rahul Mehta (89) and Sarthak Bhike (54). Geno showed resistance in the second innings through Manthan Khutkar (84) and Manish Kakode (64*), but Mohit Yadav’s 4/66 ensured Dempo wrapped up the innings at 224 and sealed victory. Mehta was named Man of the Match.
At Porvorim, MCC prevailed in a closely fought contest. They made 293 in the first innings with Deepraj Gaonkar (81) and Umang Gosavi (71) leading the charge. Reduced to 119 in the second innings after Yash Kasvankar’s seven-wicket haul, MCC set a target of 197.
Salgaocar fell short at 182 despite a late fight. Anuj Yadav starred with 6/58 to seal the win.
