Dempo Challengers outclass CD Fountainhead by six wickets

Margao: Dempo Challengers produced an all-round performance to register a commanding six-wicket victory over CD Fountainhead in the GSB Unity Cup 3.0 at the MCC Ground Margao on Thursday.

After opting to bowl first, Dempo were driven by a fiery spell from skipper Aditya Angle, who returned figures of 4 for 27. He was well supported by Shridhar Keni (3 for 25) and Tunish Sawkar, as Fountainhead were bundled out for 136 in 19.3 overs.

Pranav Biche stood tall for Fountainhead with a fluent 53 off 29 balls, striking five fours and four sixes. Anish Prabhudesai added 20, but the lack of partnerships at the other end proved costly.

In reply, Dempo made light work of the chase. Sumiran Amonkar and Tunish Sawkar stitched together a decisive 78-run stand for the second wicket to put the contest firmly in their side’s control.

Amonkar struck 51 off 30 balls, including nine boundaries, while Sawkar

followed up his bowling effort with a fluent 50 off 29 deliveries, laced with four fours and three sixes. Dempo reached 139 for 4 in just 13.5 overs to seal victory with 37 balls to spare.

For Fountainhead, Vikrant Prabhu and Niraj Wagle picked up a wicket each, but were unable to slow Dempo’s charge.
