They bag seven medals to finish third place
Margao: Goan athletes put up a commendable performance at the ASMITA Pencak Silat League held in Daman, finishing third overall in the Junior category and securing seven medals.
A 27-member contingent represented the state across 35 event categories and returned with one silver and six bronze medals in individual competitions.
Falaknaaz Sayad led the charge by clinching the silver medal in the Junior (-63 kg) category with a consistent display. The bronze medallists included Sachi Joshi in the Sub Junior (-60 kg) division, Madhu Chauhan in both the Senior (-50 kg) and Senior Solo events, Parmesh Chauhan in the Senior (-55 kg) category, and Chrissie Fernandes in the Junior Solo and Junior Tunggal events.
The collective performances of the athletes ensured that Team Goa secured third place overall in the Junior category, earning a team trophy at the national-level meet.
The squad was guided by head coach and Pencak Silat Association of Goa (PSAG) general secretary Anthony Braganza. Coach Nilufer Khan and team manager Joaquim Antonio Da Silva were also part of the support staff during the competition.
