Suzhou: India’s dreams of qualifying for the FIFA World Cup ended on Monday with a 0-3 loss to China in the AFC Under-17 Women’s Asian Cup 2026 quarterfinals in China.
China broke the deadlock in the 38th minute as Liu Xixi delivered a low cross from the right for Huang Qinyi to finish from close range.
The hosts doubled their advantage just before halftime after Ritu brought down Liu Yuxi inside the box. Yuxi stepped up and converted the penalty confidently to give China a 2-0 lead at the interval.
India continued to fight after the restart with Basnett making crucial tackles and Munni pulling off several saves to frustrate the hosts. Joya and Pritika Barman tried to push India forward on the counter, but the final ball lacked precision in key moments.
