Panaji: Yash Kasvankar marked his return to Goa’s playing XI in style, claiming five wickets as the visitors bowled out Uttar Pradesh for 202 in the Ranji Trophy Elite clash at Green Park Stadium on Sunday.

Kasvankar finished with 5/86 from 25 overs, spearheading Goa’s attack as the hosts slipped to 137 for nine before Rinku Singh’s unbeaten century carried them past 200.

Rinku stood tall amid the collapse, crafting an unbeaten 118 off 186 balls, with 11 fours and two sixes. Madhav Kaushik offered support with 45 as the pair added 59 for the fourth wicket before Shubham Tari broke the partnership.

Goa had made an early breakthrough after Uttar Pradesh opted to bat, with Ruthvik Naik removing Abhishek Goswami and Aryan Juyal to reduce the hosts to 31 for two. Karan Sharma was then run out for a duck by Kasvankar, leaving Uttar Pradesh 33 for three.

Kasvankar returned to dismantle the lower order, removing Aaradhya Yadav, Zeeshan Ansari, Kartik Yadav, Yash Dayal and Vansh as Uttar Pradesh were bowled out in 71 overs.

Goa responded confidently, reaching 43 without loss by stumps. Shivendra Bhujbal was unbeaten on 31, while Suyash Prabhudessai was 12 not out, leaving Goa 159 runs behind.

Goa made two changes to their XI, bringing in Kasvankar and Amulya Pandrekar in place of Mohit Redkar and Deeparaj Gaonkar.
