Maina SC entered the semifinal after a 7-6 win via tie-breaker over DBO Fatorda in the Lourdes Soccer Cup at Ambelim ground on Monday.

Fatorda drew first blood through Elroy Barreto while Ryan Fernandes restored parity for Maina. At fulltime the score was deadlocked at 1-1.

In the tie-breaker, Maina proved to be better shooters from the spot with Joywin Carneiro, Nickson Castanha, Ryan Fernandes, Rhay Dias, Jovel M and Prakash Joshi converted their kicks from the spot while Fatorda managed to pull back through Roque Borges, Hanslum Furtado, Alfred Noronha, Richie Vaz and Joel Camara.

Maina’s Ryan Fernandes was awarded the man of the match by Steno Rebello.
