The match-fixing investigation that has cast a long shadow over the 2025-26 Goa Professional League season has entered its decisive phase, with the Goa Football Association (GFA) issuing a 288-page chargesheet to 14 players, most of them former members of Chapora YS.

In October 2025, Chapora Yuvak Sangh sacked nine players from their squad over alleged match-fixing. The club subsequently escalated the matter by filing a formal complaint with the GFA and lodging an FIR at Mapusa Police Station concerning suspicious activities during the ongoing league campaign.

In an official statement, the GFA said that “acting swiftly on the complaint, the Goa Football Association appointed retired Deputy Superintendent of Police Sandesh T Chodankar as its Integrity Officer who conducted an investigation.” The Integrity Officer’s report was later submitted to the GFA Ethics Committee.”

According to the GFA, the Ethics Committee has now “issued a chargesheet to Rohan Krishna Pednekar, Akash Amrut Kudnekar, Akash Sanadi, Bhaskar Jalmi, Krishnanath Shirodkar, Vinayak Rane, Chaitan Dabholkar, Sachidanand Satelkar, Aman Govekar, Minesh Kunkolkar, Satish Kankonkar, Mouzzan Shaikh, Suraj Hadkonkar and Ronaldo Oliveira, giving them 10 days to reply to the charges.”

The GFA Ethics Committee members will meet in early March to deliberate upon the sanctions in the matter. Speaking on the issue Caitano Fernandes, President of the Goa Football Association said, “When I took over the GFA on 2022, I promised the clubs that I will do everything I can to eradicate this menace from Goan football and clean up the system. We are on our way towards achieving that goal. The GFA Executive Committee will take the strongest possible action against all those involved”.
