He retains IBC West Zone featherweight crown; Kailas Gauns, Kale deliver wins

Panaji: Goa’s Pralhad Panda made history by successfully defending his IBC West Zone featherweight title at the Susegado Strike Fight Night 3, held at Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias in Miramar. With this, he became the first Goan to retain a professional boxing title on home turf.

The 29-year-old from Bastora beat Pune’s Amit Kumar by unanimous decision after eight competitive rounds. Panda credited his team and home support for the memorable win.

In another highlight, Chimbel’s Kailas Gauns clinched a close win by split decision over Prasad Katnoor from Virar in the men’s super flyweight category, giving Goa its second win of the evening.

The event featured 12 professional fighters across various categories. Notable victories included Maninder Singh’s first-round TKO over Bharany Velmurugan in the welterweight division and a gritty comeback by Ashish Ahlawat in the heavyweight bout.

Women’s winners included Pune’s Amruta Kale and Bengaluru’s Ramandeep Kaur, both declared unanimous winners after six-round contests.
