Sherwin Shaw Falcons and Baale Tigers opened their campaigns with comfortable 23-run victories in the PGML 5.0 T-20 cricket tournament, organised by Panjim Gymkhana, at the Panjim Gymkhana Ground, Campal on Sunday.
In the first match, Sherwin Shaw Falcons posted a competitive 211 all out in 19.5 overs, led by Tunish Sawkar’s 55. Support came from Saif Ali Karajgi (36), Raunak Pednekar (35) and Madar Basappa. For Desserts & More Avengers, Muktiar Kadri claimed two wickets, while Mohan Kolkar, Ojas, Mrunmay Das and Vikas Shetty picked up one wicket each.
Chasing 212, Desserts & More Avengers ended on 188 for 9 in 20 overs. Ojas top-scored with 54, supported by Amod Borkar (40) and Muktiar Kadri (35). Sandesh Barekar starred with the ball, taking three wickets, while Tunish Sawkar and Sazu Naik added crucial breakthroughs to seal the 23-run win for Falcons. In the second match, Baale Tigers were bowled out for 173 in 20 overs, with Dhiraj Phadte scoring 51, Samar Dubhashi 36 and Prasad Patil 22. Ramnath Gaonkar of RC Goa took four wickets to stem the scoring.
Chasing 174, RC Goa were dismissed for 150 in 19.4 overs. Ramnath Gaonkar top-scored with 46, while Dattesh Priolkar contributed 33 runs. Left-arm spinner Prasad Patil was instrumental for Baale Tigers with four wickets, supported by Dhiraj Phadte and Harshal Shah, securing a 23-run victory.
