Simran, Nishad, Nihaal shine in BPS pickleball

The inaugural BPS Open Pickleball Championship 2025, held in Margao, highlighted the growing popularity of the sport in the state.

 A total of 123 players from across the state competed across 10 categories.In the ladies’ singles final, Simran Bundela dominated her opponent, securing a resounding victory with a score of 33-6.

The open mixed doubles category saw an electric final, as Nishad Shevde and Sweta Kantak faced off against Cleon Barreto and Janice Dias.

The match swung back and forth, with Shevde and Kantak eventually emerging victorious with a 11-5, 10-12, 11-2 scoreline. In the 35+ men’s singles, Nihaal Borkar defeated Noel Noronha in a tense encounter, clinching the title with an 11-6, 11-5 win.
