They outclass Seiko Club by 21 runs in the final at Margao
Margao: Stamina Club, Porvorim, defeated Seiko Club, Margao, by 21 runs to win the 4th Chandrakant Karapurkar Trophy in the final played under lights at the Dr Rajendraprasad Ground, Margao.
Asked to bat, Stamina made full use of the conditions with a blazing start, as openers Ninad Pawaskar and Sahil Dhuri put on 101 runs in just 7.2 overs. Dhuri led the charge with a fluent 74, while Pawaskar struck 36. Abhinav Bhat provided further impetus with a brisk 41, powering Stamina to 191 for 7 in 20 overs despite Om Phadte’s 3/28.
In reply, Seiko stayed in contention till the halfway mark but lost wickets at regular intervals thereafter. Reagan Pinto (48), Rajat Shet (39) and Vedant Naik (32) offered resistance, but mounting pressure and sharp fielding from Stamina restricted them to 170 for 9.
Sachin Kurpaskar (2/23) was the pick of the bowlers, while Dhuri capped a fine all-round performance.
Dhuri was named Man of the Final. Prathamesh Salunke (Seiko) bagged both the Best Batsman and Man of the Tournament awards, while Yogesh Kauthankar was adjudged Best Bowler. Atharva Chandure was named Best Wicketkeeper.
