St Xavier’s HS clinch 1st Cuncolim football title

St Xavier’s High School Velim claimed the title at the 1st Cuncolim Union All Goa Inter-School Football Tournament, defeating Our Lady of Carmel High School Curtorim 2-0 in the final at Cuncolim Union grounds.

The match was goalless at halftime, but St Xavier’s broke the deadlock with Crizman Correia scoring the opening goal. John Fernandes sealed the victory with a second-half strike.

The tournament, organized by Cuncolim Union in memory of former officials and players Bladwin Coutinho, Moti Dessai, Avinash Angle, and Terezito Tias Fernandes, saw distinguished guests including Chief Guest Motilal Gaunkar,
Retired Officer at the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, and Guest of Honour Sanjay Shetkar, AEPO Salcete.

Special invitees included former international hockey player and Arjuna Awardee Joaquim Carvalho, Ramesh Dessai, Gladys Coutinho, and retired teachers Tacy Almeida.
