Students commence HSSC exam with English paper

The HSSC examination conducted by the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education began in the state on
Monday.

The students on the opening day of the examination answered English language paper. The exam is being conducted in streams namely arts, commerce
and science.

For the vocational stream, the examination will commence from February 11 with an English Communication skill paper, while exam for this particular stream will be conducted till February 24.

The examination is being conducted at 20 centres around the state.

This year, altogether 17,718 candidates have registered for the exam, including 17, 511 in the regular category. The 17,751 regular category students include 9,253 girls and
8,498 boys.

There are 864 regular repeater candidates while eight are isolated candidates. Another 16 candidates are those who have sought improvement in their mark sheet and 49 are answering for part improvement.
