Panaji : The Old Goa police have registered an FIR against Clancy D’Silva, a teacher at a school in Tiswadi taluka, for allegedly beating four students with a ‘wooden baton’ on Thursday.

The police said  D’Silva, a resident of Britona in Bardez, was being arrested  late night in connection with the case.

It is unclear as to why the teacher assaulted the students, but sources said it could be due to some ‘personal’ issues.

The police suspected that the teacher assaulted four more pupils on Thursday afternoon.

A complaint was lodged by the mother of a 14-year-old student, who was allegedly assaulted by the teacher.

Three students are 14 years old while one student is 13 years old, the police said, adding that the students came to the Old Goa police station along with their parents. They were referred to medical check-up.

The FIR has been registered under sections 118 (1), 352 of the BNS and Section 8 (2) of Goa Children’s Act 2003.
