Alex Fernandes’ lone strike secures them the victory
Telaulim: United Boys of Ambaulim emerged victorious in the Goa UCT Trophy Inter-Village Football Tournament, defeating Canacona Sports and Cultural Club 1-0 in a gripping final held at the Government Village School ground, Telaulim on Sunday.
Alex Fernandes scored the lone goal which proved decisive in a fiercely contested match that kept spectators on the edge of their seats throughout.
Individual awards recognised outstanding performances: Best Forward – Chandan Gaonkar (Canacona), Best Half – Sawell Fernandes (Canacona), Best Defender – Sky Shayne Fernandes (Canacona), Best Goalkeeper – Iban Fernandes (Bambolim), Best Discipline Team – St Sebastian Murida, and Goal Poacher Award – Cleasio Pinto (Caborim-Backben Murida).
Chief Guest Churchill Alemao presented the winning trophy, in the presence of Vallanka Alemao, FIFA Executive Committee member, Alistair Ferrao, Romeo Gomes Santan Gomes, Cerin Ferrao, Mark Gomes, and other organising committee members.
