They beat Navelim Sporting Club 5-4 via tie-breaker

Chinchinim: United Boys of Ambaulim emerged as the champions of the Anil Kamat Memorial Cup after a 5-4 win via tie-breaker over Navelim Sporting Club at Chinchinim Church ground on Sunday.

Navelim drew first blood through Ronaldo Pereira early in just the 2nd minute, capitalizing on a defensive lapse to give his side the early lead.

United Boys of Ambaulim nearly found a swift response when Alex Fernandes fed Julius Carvalho in the 4th minute, only for the latter to miss the target by inches.

Navelim pushed hard to extend their advantage, but a lack of clinical finishing saw Ronaldo Pereira, Prestly Gomes, and Joyson Coutinho squander key chances.

At halftime the score was 0-0

The second half saw Ambaulim with a renewed purpose. Alex Fernandes tested the keeper with a free-kick in the 38th minute, before Ibon Fernandes made a vital save at the other end to deny Navelim. The pressure finally paid off in the 57th minute when Jesvan Fernandes slotted home the equalizer. At fulltime the score remained 0-0. In the tie-breaker, Ambaulim showed composure as Sowell Fernandes, Bradley Carvalho, Savlon Fernandes, and Jesvan Fernandes all converted their spot-kicks. Navelim managed to pull back through Venito Costa, Joyson Coutinho, and Aden Pereira.
