Unity Mall to come up at Chimbel in two years; work order issued

The state-of-the-art Unity Mall-Goa in Chimbel will come up in two years’ time, the Tourism Department said. The work order for the project was issued on Wednesday.

“The work order has been issued to M/s Comt Constructions Pvt Ltd, and the project is expected to come up in two
years’ time,” said a tourism official.

It is a project approved under the financial assistance by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Special Assistance to the State for Capital Investment (SASCI) by the Government of India for the promotion of Skill India, Make in India and One District One Product.

The ground floor will have kiosks for 29 states, two Union territories and both the districts of Goa. Additionally, there will be a multiplex with four screens. The first floor will have kiosks for commercial purposes, a VR zone, a gaming zone, food courts and a projection room.

The second floor will have seminar halls and workshops, and the third floor will have a digital museum, art gallery and business centre, while the fourth floor has a speciality restaurant and
Ekta Udyan.

GTDC, in December 2024, had refloated the tender with more improvised designs and subsequent costings for the construction of the Unity Mall at Chimbel at a cost of over Rs 175 crore.

The tender floated by the GTDC had said that the project is planned to create an ambience and provide world-class facilities for promoting the rural artisans, district products and national integration.
