Congress leader Elvis Gomes on Thursday urged voters to remain vigilant about the voter enumeration forms distributed by the district election officer through Booth Level Officers (BLOs), and the draft approved electoral roll that will follow, to safeguard their voting rights.
Speaking about the possible impact of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voters, he said that it could lead to the deletion of legitimate votes and create opportunities for fake voter registrations.
“The district election officer has yet to disclose the specifics of the forms distributed and received thus far, despite claims of a complete distribution of enumeration forms in the South Goa district. Numerous complaints have emerged from voters who said that they did not receive the forms. In many instances, the BLOs are not providing adequate assistance to the voters. There are obstacles noted in completing these enumeration forms online. These concerns must be addressed by the district election officer,” he said.
He urged voters to verify their names on the prepared draft approved electoral roll starting December 9 and approach the relevant officers with the necessary documentation to secure their voting rights.
