Designed with a focus on clean and inclusive content, the platform aims to cater to audiences of all age groups while showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage,” said Bhatiya.
Launched by Prasar Bharati in November 2024, the platform offers content in 12 languages. However, the content will soon be available in all prominent Indian languages including Konkani, he said.
Talking about the Goan presence on the platform, he said that the
DD Panaji content which is in Konkani is available on WAVES. Besides, a documentary called ‘Famously Found @15’ which was made by DD Panaji on the life of Brahmanand Sankhwalkar, a former Goan footballer and Indian national team captain, is also available on the platform, he added.
WAVES offers over 70 Live TV channels, including Doordarshan and Akashvani channels, and major entertainment networks like B4U, SAB Group, and 9X Media, apart from on-demand content spanning 10 popular genres. Integration with ONDC has also enabled online shopping directly through the Waves app.
