WISFF wraps up with 214 films and 35 awards

The Waves International Short Film Festival (WISFF) concluded its latest edition, showcasing 214 films from across the globe. Out of these, 93 films were selected for screening during the three-day event, which included short films, music videos, documentaries, animated shorts, and entries from the 60 Hours Film Making Challenge 4.0.

The festival provided a platform for both new and experienced filmmakers. Actress and model, Karishma Tanna was the chief guest. She was joined by scriptwriter Manisha Korde, film critic Sachin Chatte, and cinematographer Gaurav Gokhle, with other attendees including cinematographer Sharmad Raiturkar, Jeetendra Shikerkar, and actor Kevin D’Mello.

A total of 35 awards were given across different categories. In the Open Category, ‘Jadugoda’, directed by Satish Munda won Best Short Film. ‘Thursday Special’, directed by Varun Tandon, took the Second-Best Short Film award, and ‘Guntata Hriday He’, directed by Sainath S Uskaikar, won Third-Best Short Film. ‘Before I Sleep’, directed by Arvin Vaz, was named Best Goan Short Film, while ‘Mai’ (Konkani), directed by Saujas Sunil Shetye won Best Short Documentary.

‘Damodara Mhajya Deva’, directed by Nehal Chari, won Best Music Video (Originals), and ‘Gust of Wind – Varyacho Zhoko’, directed by Sakshi Vijay Ramnathkar, won Best Short Film Directed by a Female Director. Special Jury Mentions were given to ‘Undivided Solitude’, directed by Bijoy Chowdhury, ‘Kolhahal / The Chaos’, directed by Santosh Pathare, and ‘Adeus’, directed by Nehal Chari and Aaditya Swaroop.

In the 60 Hours Film Making Challenge 4.0, the Best Short Film award went to ‘Jellyfish’ (Konkani), directed by Glen Cardozo. The second and third Best Short Films were awarded to ‘Straight Ahead’ (Konkani), directed by Sobita Shaba Kudtarkar, and ‘Parmalto Pra…vaas’ (Konkani), directed by Rajaram Gopal Turi.
