A fluent half-century from Sunil Verekar powered Youth Sports Club of Khandola to a six-wicket win over Shantadurga Pirna in the Betim United Trophy at the SAG ground, Campal, on Thursday.

Chasing 148 for victory, Khandola reached the target in 19.2 overs, finishing at 150/4. Verekar was the standout performer with a composed 56, anchoring the innings after an early wobble. He received good support from Vishal Gaonkar, who remained unbeaten on 31, and Shubham Gupta, who chipped in with a handy 23.

Earlier, Shantadurga Pirna posted 147/8 after opting to bat. Tejas Desai top-scored with 35, while Abhishek Sawant remained not out on 30. Contributions from Santosh Sawant (25), Tushar Desai (18), and Suraj Shetye (17) helped lift the total. However, Khandola’s bowlers kept things under control, with Saroj Thakur (3/39) leading the attack and receiving able support from Prasad Harle (1/18), Pralay Gaude (1/27), Shubham Gupta (1/28), and Verekar himself (1/31).
