The problem I would choose to gain independence from is ‘unemployment’! Yes, there are job fairs being organised and a lot of subsidies being provided to encourage rural start-ups. But apart from government jobs that relatively offer steady financial security, relevant high-paying opportunities are far from abundant. There is also a mismatch between the expected pay scale and skillsets. Better skill development, entrepreneurial mindset and support, and equity in pay scales that are fair, are critical for the state’s progress and development.”

One of the most challenging problems the state is currently facing is the garbage menace. From the sides of highways to our beaches, garbage can be seen everywhere. It is time for the government to introduce a hygiene law that penalises residents and individuals for littering. Alongside door-to-door garbage collection, dedicated dumping points should be identified in each ward, with their locations made available on Google Maps for easy access. The government should focus on the basic infrastructure instead of spending haphazardly. A garbage-free Goa is not only a dream for Goans; it would also significantly improve the state’s image and boost tourism.”
