Sunaparanta-Goa Centre for the Arts is hosting the screening of  Shyam Benegal’s  ‘Trikal: Past, Present and Future’ (1985) on May 16, 6.45 p.m.

Presented as part of the ongoing exhibition ‘Growing Up in Mário’s World’, celebrating the birth centenary of Mário de Miranda, the evening brings together cinema, music, memory and Goa’s cultural history in a rare and special way.

Set against the backdrop of a changing Goa, ‘Trikal’, which was shot in Miranda’s house in Loutolim, tells the story of a wealthy and influential Goan Catholic family and the changes they go through over a period of time. Narrated through the memories of someone close to the family, the film reflects on love, relationships, tradition, and a society on the brink of change. As relationships shift and old certainties begin to fade, the film quietly reveals a world caught between past and future. It remains one of Indian cinema’s most memorable portraits of Goa and its layered histories.  The evening will feature a special introduction by musician and cultural icon Remo Fernandes, whose music and onscreen appearance formed a part of the film.

Limited seats. Seating on first-come, first-serve basis.
