The Social Welfare Department has officially relaunched its website which has been inactive for the past five years.

On December 30, The Navhind Times had highlighted how the inactive portal has posed problems for citizens seeking to apply for various social welfare schemes.

Sources in the department said that Goa Electronic Corporation (GEL) was tasked with redeveloping the website.

“GEL successfully oversaw the relaunch, ensuring the website is once again available to the public,” said the official.

Originally created in 2013 and managed by Terasoft Technology since 2018, the website was designed to offer a streamlined online platform for accessing financial aid, scholarships, and other welfare benefits. However, since 2019, it has been non-operational.

Before its shutdown, the website played a vital role in enabling individuals to apply for assistance, including financial support for the elderly, scholarships for low-income students, and grants for people with disabilities.

The online platform eliminated the need for citizens to visit government offices or wait in long lines.
