He nets once to beat TRAU 1-0 in I-League 2

Ella: Sporting Clube de Goa edged past TRAU with a 1-0 win in their second home fixture, courtesy of Ronaldo Oliveira’s stunning 40th-minute strike at Ella Academy Ground, Old Goa, on Thursday.

Returning home after three away games, Sporting Clube secured another crucial win, building on their success in their previous home outing. The result keeps their momentum alive as they aim to climb the league table.

Sporting Clube lined up with Abhimanyu Singh between the posts, shielded by defenders Joel Colaco, Joyner Lourenco, Myron Fernandes, and Kunal Kundaikar. The midfield quartet of Biswa Darjee, Ivon Costa, Dattaraj Gaonkar, and Naocha Singh controlled the tempo, while Doyal Alves and Ronaldo Oliveira spearheaded the attack. Their bench featured Nitish (GK), Kima, Dhiraj, Samuel, Joyson G, Selwyn, Vikram, Semboi, Francisco, and Rohan.

The visitors, meanwhile, endured their fourth defeat of the season, extending their goalless run to five matches. With just one point from five games, they remain level with KLASA (Keinou Library & Sports Association) at the bottom of the table.

Oliveira’s decisive moment came in the 40th minute. With a silky first touch, he controlled the ball, took a quick glance at goal, and rifled a thunderous strike past the keeper, giving Sporting Clube a crucial first-half lead.

The second half saw Sporting Clube de Goa display defensive resilience, shutting down TRAU’s attacking threats and ensuring all three points. With this win, Sporting Clube move to seven points in the league.
