Inter Kashi laid down the marker for Churchill Brothers, beating Namdhari FC 3-2 in the I-League 2024-25 at the Kalyani Stadium on Thursday, and retaking the top spot on the table. All the goals came in the second half.
Nikola Stojanovic opened the scoring in the 48th minute with a stunning left-footed strike into the top corner. Namdhari hit back in the 67th when Cledson Dasilva converted a penalty after being fouled on a rebound. Kashi responded immediately, as Sumeet Passi tapped in a low cross in the 70th minute before Edmund Lalrindika made it 3-1 a minute later with a brilliant solo effort off the upright. Dharmpreet Singh pulled one back in the 82nd, but Kashi held on for the win. In a sedate first half the only real moment of note was an injury to Namdhari FC goalkeeper Jaspreet Singh, pulled off after a collision with a suspected hand injury. While Inter Kashi had controlled the game well through the period, they had come up short against an organised and well drilled Namdhari defence.
